PAST INITIATIVES
Project JJ emerged from humble beginnings. Over the years they have run very successful projects and managed to change many lives. Below are some of our past initiatives and ongoing projects.
TSHWARAGANANG OUTREACH
2009 (pictures from the home 2009)
When JJ first found Tshwaraganang Community Outreach, the home consisted of about thirty children from destitute backgrounds in need of a home. The home was literally three RDP's houses, a tap, and two toilets, of which one was broken. There was no stable income or sponsor for food or even a garden. The founder of the home, who believed in making a difference, would wake up in the morning and go into a local forest to get wood in order to cook for the children. There were times when the children themselves had to ask local vendors for left over food just to have something to eat. The home lacked basic necessities such as electricity, water and bathroom facilities. It is amazing that with nothing, Katherine Sepato would take care of these kids, teaching them right from wrong, counselling them, sending them to school and getting them medical attention should they need. Project JJ found this home and vowed to change things. This home now has hot water, electricity, hygiene toilets, bedrooms, a kitchen, dining room facilities and now houses about 80 children.

2012 (recent pictures)
2009 - 2012
Over the last few years Project JJ has run many projects and has made a substantial difference to this home. (The current status of this home is under PROJECTS). This is some of the initiatives we have put together:

CROSSROADS BOYS SHELTER
2009 - 2012
Over the last few years we have:
|
THUTO KE LESEDI CRECHE
2010 - 2012When Project JJ was first introduced to this creche, it was very poor and completely underdeveloped. It consisted of a single metal container with no proper facilities. With the help of Project JJ and other sponsors we were able to develop it into the place it is today (Refer to Projects for more information on the current state).

Over the past couple of years:

Kalafong Hospital: Pediatric Department
2011Project JJ was unhappy with the bleak environment the children resided in while in Kalafong Hospital, and decided to refurbish the ward. E.S. Samimi Construction assisted them, and together they had the ward painted professionally and fixed. Thereafter, students from the University of Pretoria redecorated the ward by painting cartoons. OTHER PROJECTS
2009 - 2012
Over the last few years Project JJ held a number of short term projects. From donations of food and clothes, to career guidance and social support. They have supported a number of foundations and homes including the Red Cross Foundation, Bergville Community Outreach, Vasfontein Shelter, Westford Community Outreach and many more.
One of our older and successful projects was in Mozambique and ran for two years. We painted, built, taught, held health care seminars, donated medical equipment, and provided food and clothes on each trip.
